We found out the hard way that Gary Callies claims to know how to do electrical and HVAC work which is very far from true. First of all we found out after the fact that he is NOT licensed. We hired him to install a new ac unit before we moved into a new house and some minor electrical work.
The problems started to begin when he we paid for a carrier unit and he tried to sneak it by us hoping that we wouldn’t notice that by installing an inferior payne unit. He assured us it was a mistake and he would have a carrier installed in a few days and in the meantime he disconnected the payne and left.
We were to move in within a few wks when this problem arose and needed it to be fixed asap especially since we have an infant. This is when he started not showing up or returning calls for days/weeks on end. Then he finally came back and said he was going to fix everything, but ended up only making things worse.
He claimed that a major part in the air handler was not working and that he was going to bring it back with a new one(with out this part you might as well buy a new air handler because thats how much it costs). This was that last we saw of him and pretty much heard from him.
We were forced to hire another AC person as we had already moved in and summer is coming up. We got 3 estimates from highly rated AC companies and all of them said it was pretty much all wrong and that we were lucky that he did not finish because it was very likely the wiring he did would cause a fire.
I would highly recommend burning your money instead of hiring Gary Callies to work your ac because at least during the winter burning your money will keep you warm.
